B.J. Penn Set to Defend Title Against Frankie Edgar

B.J. “the Prodigy” Penn, the undisputed UFC lightweight champion, is set to defend his title against Frankie “the Answer” Edgar in 2010.

Penn has appeared to be unstoppable lately, accumulating dominating wins over top lightweight contenders such as Sean Sherk, Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez. However, Frankie Edgar may prove to be Penn’s toughest test to date.

Edgar is a former NCAA division 1 wrestler and is known for his aggressive take-downs and crisp striking. His style presents interesting problems for “the Prodigy,” but Penn’s size advantage could play a major factor in the fight.

Penn appears to be superior in all aspects of mixed martial arts other than the wrestling department, but his world class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills could nullify the top game of Edgar and furthermore, cause openings for a submission.

The official date of the event has yet to be confirmed, but this will prove to be one of the UFC’s higher profile events of 2010.
